Punjab Government to transfer 1,000 schools to
NGO
Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi has emphasized
the potential for elevating the quality of education in government schools
through partnerships with the private sector and charitable organizations.
He expressed this during a meeting with a
delegation from Muslim Hands Pakistan, led by Chairman Syed Lakht Hasnain, at
the Chief Minister's House on Sunday.
During the meeting, Chairman Hasnain briefed the
Chief Minister on Muslim Hands' activities, highlighting that the organization
currently operates 117 schools in Punjab. Among these schools, 18 are
categorized as schools of excellence, while 35 are considered model schools. He
also mentioned various projects in the fields of health and education across
different districts in south Punjab, including initiatives aimed at equipping
youth with market-based IT skills to promote self-reliance.

In response, Chief Minister Naqvi announced the
decision to transfer the management of 1,000 schools in Punjab to Muslim Hands.
Furthermore, he instructed relevant officials to facilitate the signing of a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Punjab government and the
organization within the next week.
The meeting also explored the possibility of
entrusting orphanages to Muslim Hands, demonstrating the commitment to
strengthening collaboration between the organization and the provincial
government.

Chief Minister Naqvi assured the delegation
that, with their support, the provincial government would consider enhancing
the emergency wards of large hospitals in Punjab. He underscored the
government's dedication to encouraging private sector initiatives for the
improvement of healthcare and education in the region.
Chairman Hasnain reiterated Muslim Hands'
readiness to serve the public in partnership with the Punjab government,
reflecting a joint commitment to advance education and healthcare services for
the people.
