PMDC administers MDCAT exams nationwide;
Postpones tests in flood-affected regions
The Medical and Dental College Admission Test
(MDCAT) took place across the nation on Sunday. However, an exemption has been
granted for students hailing from flood-affected areas, and their examinations
will be rescheduled for a later date.
In Lahore, a total of 19,014 candidates
participated in the MDCAT, comprising 5,755 males and 13,259 females.
Examination centers were established at Government College University,
University of Education Township, and Government APWA College for Women. The
secure transportation of examination papers to these centers was carried out
under the vigilant supervision of the assistant commissioner and local law
enforcement.
In Sindh, the MDCAT examinations were conducted
in various cities, including Karachi, Larkana, Jamshoro, and Nawabshah. A total
of 40,539 applicants participated in these tests, with 24,464 being female
candidates and 16,500 being male candidates.
However, some social media users alleged that
the MDCAT paper had been leaked online a day prior to the examination.
Nonetheless, authorities asserted that the Higher Education Commission of
Pakistan had effectively thwarted any such attempts. The education secretary
revealed that numerous candidates suspected of cheating with the aid of
Bluetooth devices had been apprehended.
The secretary further stated that the commission
possessed information about a group that had attempted to leak examination
papers through such devices and had actively assisted students in cheating.
