Prime Minister inaugurates National University
of Technology's main campus in Islamabad
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif laid the
foundation stone of the main campus of the National University of Technology in
the federal capital on Friday. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister
underscored the significance of promoting skilled and technical education,
highlighting its crucial role in the success and development of any nation. He
emphasized that technical and skilled education is not only a guarantee for the
country's development and prosperity but also a top priority.
The Prime Minister emphasized that graduates
from this university, equipped with valuable skills, will not only earn a
respectable livelihood but also contribute to improving the country's image
globally, including in Gulf States. He stressed the need to eliminate class
discrimination, particularly in the education sector, in accordance with the
vision of Pakistan's founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and Allama Dr.
Muhammad Iqbal.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the
government's unwavering support for the promotion of skilled and technical
education. He highlighted that such education plays a pivotal role in producing
a skilled workforce, which can contribute to reducing the country's trade
deficit by sending remittances from abroad.
The Prime Minister shared his experience as the
former chief minister of Punjab, mentioning the establishment of the Danish
Schools network to provide educational opportunities to deserving youth from
underprivileged backgrounds. He also mentioned the disbursement of billions of
rupees in stipends to nearly half a million students.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz
Sharif announced a grant of Rs100 million and the provision of four
air-conditioned buses for the university, demonstrating the government's commitment
to supporting the institution.
The establishment of the National University of
Technology's main campus marks a significant milestone in the advancement of
technical education in Pakistan. It reflects the government's dedication to
equipping the youth with the necessary skills to contribute to the nation's
progress and prosperity. The university is poised to become a hub of
excellence, producing skilled graduates who will play a pivotal role in shaping
the country's future.
