Pakistan Education Endowment Fund worth Rs. 14 billion
launched
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has inaugurated
the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund, valued at Rs14 billion, and announced
significant reforms in the National Curriculum.
The launch ceremony took place in Islamabad on
Wednesday, where the Prime Minister outlined the government's commitment to
equipping the youth with education and empowering them as builders of the
nation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif clarified that a
budget of three billion rupees has been allocated for the endowment fund in the
current fiscal year. This budget will directly benefit the youth in the form of
scholarships, enabling them to pursue their education and contribute to the
nation's progress.
Highlighting the importance of education for
national development, the Prime Minister expressed his desire to see the
allocation for the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund increase to Rs140 billion
over the next decade. He emphasized that education is the key to taking the
country forward on the path of progress and development.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recalled the
establishment of the Punjab Education Endowment Fund in 2008, which has
provided scholarships to four hundred and fifty thousand students. He affirmed
that the government remains committed to expanding access to quality education
for all segments of society.
The Prime Minister emphasized the sacred duty of
promoting education and stressed the need to prioritize areas that require
development. He underscored the importance of relevant and meaningful education
that equips students with the skills necessary to compete globally.
Minister for Education, Rana Tanveer Hussain,
also addressed the audience, stating that scholarships under the endowment fund
will be awarded in various disciplines, including nursing, engineering, and
social sciences. The minister highlighted an important milestone of
incorporating the Constitution of Pakistan into the syllabus. This step will
enhance students' understanding of their rights and responsibilities as
citizens.
The launch of the Pakistan Education Endowment
Fund and the National Curriculum reforms signify the government's commitment to
providing quality education and empowering the youth of Pakistan. These
initiatives aim to create an inclusive educational environment that equips
