GB government signs agreement with AKU, LUMS to enhance
education system
The Gilgit Baltistan (GB) government has taken a
significant stride towards improving the education system by entering into an
agreement with Aga Khan University (AKU), Lahore University of Management
Sciences (LUMS), Karakoram International University (KIU), and Knowledge
Platform. This collaborative project, titled '1000 Education Fellows,' is set
to span three years with a budget of Rs 2.19 billion, as per an official
statement.
Under this initiative, AKU and its partners will
undertake the recruitment, training, and deployment of 1000 Education Fellows
to government schools in GB. Dr. Anjum Hailai, Vice Provost of AKU, expressed
confidence that this project will bring significant improvements to the
government education system, with all parties dedicated to transforming the
educational landscape.
Dr. Atta Ullah, Vice Chancellor of KIU,
reiterated the university's commitment to utilizing all available resources to
support the education department in GB. Prof. Dr. Gulab Khan from LUMS and Mr.
Issa Salahuddin from Knowledge Platform also expressed their optimism and
dedication to contributing their best efforts to this commendable endeavor.
This landmark collaboration aims to elevate the
quality of education in GB and create a brighter future for the region's
students, as emphasized by the Chief Secretary of GB, Muhiudeen Wani.
