Pakistan students leading way in Erasmus Mundus Scholarships
Once again, Pakistani students have showcased their exceptional
academic abilities by securing top positions in the prestigious global Erasmus
Mundus scholarship rankings.
An impressive total of 192 talented Pakistani students have been
selected to pursue their higher education at renowned European universities.
The European Union Pakistan officially announced this remarkable
achievement on Thursday through their Twitter account. Pakistan's outstanding
performance surpassed other countries, with India closely following with 174
students, Bangladesh with 140 students, Mexico with 118 students, and Nigeria
with 109 students.
A total of 2,835 students from 143 different countries have been
awarded scholarships funded by the European Union. These scholarships provide
them with the opportunity to embark on their educational journeys through one
of the 146 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree programs available.
Last year, the program welcomed 3,013 students from 133 countries,
and once again, Pakistan claimed the top spot globally.
In another display of international support for Pakistani
students, the United States announced a generous initiative earlier this year.
They offered 500 new scholarships specifically targeted at university students
from districts affected by the devastating floods in Pakistan.
This initiative aims to assist these students in completing their
degrees despite the challenges they faced due to the historic monsoon rains and
flooding in 2022. The catastrophe resulted in the loss of over 1,700 lives,
displaced more than eight million people, and had a significant impact on
Pakistan's economy.
