SABS University gets HEC recognition
The Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro (SABS) University
of Art, Design, and Heritage in Jamshoro, Pakistan, has achieved a significant
milestone by becoming the country's first public sector university offering art
and design education aligned with the demands of the challenging job market.
This achievement was recognized through accreditation granted by the Higher
Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, Islamabad.
In a letter dated July 19, 2023, with reference
No. 17 (109)/A&A/Acc/HEC-2021/495, the HEC conveyed that an Accreditation
Committee had conducted a physical inspection of Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro
University of Art, Design, and Heritage in Jamshoro on June 19, 2023. The
inspection aimed to assess the university's physical infrastructure, academic
facilities, and overall compliance with standards. Based on the committee's
recommendations, the competent authority is pleased to grant the university NOC
(No Objection Certificate) for financial parameters, and it has also granted
NOC to the university until December 31, 2024.
Prof. Dr. Arabella Bhutto, the Vice-Chancellor
of SABS, expressed her satisfaction with the accreditation, emphasizing that
the university operates on a national level as an accredited institute. Its
primary goal is to enhance the quality of art and design education in Pakistan.
She further stated that achieving accreditation
was a significant success for SABS University. Prior to seeking accreditation,
the university ensured that all systems, procedures, networks, and programs
were brought up to the standards required for HEC accreditation. This diligent
preparation has paid off, as the university can now offer a recognized and
high-quality educational experience in the fields of art, design, and heritage.
