Pakistan Engineering Council starts initiative
to bridge gap between industry, academia
The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has
unveiled an innovative educational initiative called "Day Trip
Learning" in a ceremony held at the National University of Technology
(NUTECH) in Islamabad on Thursday.
The initiative aims to provide engineers and
faculty members with invaluable industrial exposure in a practical and hands-on
manner.
"Day Trip Learning" is a flagship
project of the PEC Pakistan Development Committee (PPDC), eagerly awaited by
engineering students and faculty alike. It has the potential to revolutionize
the traditional learning approach by offering industrial exposure and practical
experience, complementing theoretical knowledge.
The event was graced by renowned engineers,
researchers, and academicians, with Engr. Lt Gen Kashif Nazir serving as the
chief guest. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between theoretical learning
and real-world applications, giving engineering students the opportunity to
interact with industry professionals, understand modern work practices, and
witness cutting-edge technologies in action.
Engr. Mir Masood Rashid, Advisor to the Chairman
of PEC and Convenor of PPDC, emphasized that "Day Trip Learning"
holds the potential to transform the educational landscape for the next
generation of engineers.
During the ceremony, Engr Lt General Moazzam
(Retd), Rector of NUTECH University, highlighted the pressing need for
engineers to gain exposure to the industry and find suitable job opportunities.
With initiatives like "Day Trip Learning," the gap between academia
and industry can be effectively bridged.
Through "Day Trip Learning," students
will gain practical insights into the applications of their theoretical
knowledge, deepening their understanding of the field of engineering. The
initiative aims to inspire the next generation of engineers and drive them
towards becoming a powerful think tank for the socio-economic development of
the country, focusing on the vision of a prosperous "Made in
Pakistan."
