Medical and dental colleges’ admission test to be held in jails too
Pakistan
Medical Commission (PMC) has directed vice-chancellors of all public sector
universities to hold the medical and dental colleges’ admission test (MDCAT) in
countrywide jails from next year.
According to the PMC, it has instructed the universities to
establish test centres in jails.
The step has been taken after Federal
Health Minister Abdul
Qadir Patel directed the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) to ensure that
prisoners are able to take admission test of medical and dental colleges.
"The jail staff and concerned authorities will facilitate the
universities by making the appropriate arrangements. The candidates who will
appear in the Medical & Dental College Admission Test can be provided with
an opportunity to study further so that they are able to lead a new life after
completing their sentence," a spokesperson for the Pakistan Medical
Commission said in a statement.
