Russian officials visit chemical
sciences center in Karachi
Officials of Kazan Federal University (KFU) from Tatarstan region in Russia have paid a visit to the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) at University of Karachi (UoK).
Prof.
Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the International Center for Chemical
and Biological Sciences, and COMSTECH Coordinator General, welcomed the
three-member foreign delegation, led by Prof. Dr. Timirkhan Alishev, Vice
Rector, Kazan Federal University, at the ICCBS, University of Karachi.
Other members of the delegation included Dr. Ayrat Muhammetov and Dr.
Rauf Sabirov.
The delegation
was briefed about the massive activities related to science and research
being carried out at the Center.
Dr.
Timirkhan Alishev said that KFU was one of the largest universities of the
Russian federation, in which over 50,000 students were enrolled in all
types of programs.
The
university is also running various academic programs for international
students, as the university has around 10,883 international students from
101 countries, including five from Pakistan, he said.
Speaking
on the occasion, Prof. Iqbal Choudhary said, “The ICCBS as a center for
excellence owns an international stature in the field of science and
research.”
ICCBS
is the only institution in Pakistan that is not only certified by ISO but it
also became ‘UNESCO, WHO, OIC, and NAM- S&T Centre for Excellence’, he said.
Both
the institutions agreed to initiate students and faculty exchange programs in
the fields of artificial intelligence in health, nanotechnology, genomics, and
pharmaceutical sciences.
The
delegation also visited the various research buildings and facilities of
the center.
It is
pertinent to mention here that Kazan Federal University is the largest
academic institution in the Republic of Tatarstan, and the second largest
in the Russian Republic.
