Google to begin operations in Pakistan next month
The
global tech giant Google intends to start operations in Pakistan by next month.
PML-N
Senator Afnan Ullah Khan in a statement said that a delegation of Google will
visit Pakistan on December 11
to start operations. The platform will also
provide 15,000 scholarships to Pakistani citizens after starting operations in
Pakistan.
In a bid
to Unlock Pakistan’s Digital Potential, Google has launched several initiatives
in Pakistan. Earlier in September, Google launched Career Certificates to offer
flexible learning paths for all Pakistanis to enable learners to develop
their knowledge and acquire digital skills for in-demand jobs.
In June
this year, Google in collaboration with ‘Umang Pakistan’ launched a hotline
which enabled users to get quick help at the top of the search result page as
they browse anything related to suicide.
In April,
a Google delegation visited the office of the Special Technology Zones
Authority – STZA in Islamabad along with leaders of Tech Valley Pakistan.
The visiting delegates were briefed about Special Technology
Zones being developed by STZA across Pakistan and the special fiscal and
monetary incentives offered to domestic and foreign tech companies in the
Special Tech Zones.
